Small effort...BIG impact

What if humanity worked the way that trees in a forest do—quietly supporting, nourishing, and protecting one another, both in seen and unseen ways?
A book I read a few years ago, called The Hidden Life of Trees, explains how trees in a forest warn each other of danger, share nutrients, and lend strength to those that are struggling.
You can’t see it happening—but it’s what keeps the whole forest alive.
That's the parallel that came to mind following my recent trip to Ensenada, Mexico where I had the opportunity to join an incredible group of volunteers to help build a home for a young family.
They had almost nothing—materially speaking, that is—but they had more love and gratitude in their hearts than any words I might try to string together would even begin to describe.
So often, we look at the world’s problems and think, “I can’t fix that.”
The issues seem too big, too far away, or both. But just as a forest thrives when its stronger trees share what they have, humanity flourishes when we support one another.
You don’t have to save the whole forest; you only have to care for what’s within reach. Your time, compassion, or resources—whatever form your “nutrients” take—can strengthen someone else’s roots, and give them the strength they need to carry on.
And the truth is, being of service to this family—and to three different outreach programs that we participated in, around the local community—lifted our spirits just as much as we lifted theirs.
In this episode, I share what building a home in Mexico taught me about generosity, purpose, and how even the smallest act of giving can strengthen the entire human ecosystem. Like trees sharing nutrients through their roots, our compassion nourishes others in ways we might never see.
